Undergraduate Concerto Competition
Spring 2023
The Spring 2023 MSO Concerto Competition will be held during the Fall 2022 semester. Stayed tuned for more information!
Eligibility
MSO’s annual concerto competition is open to all Harvard undergraduates. Both instrumental and vocal concertos are welcome. In case of double concertos, both soloists must be undergraduates at Harvard. The winner will be invited to perform the concerto in its entirety with MSO at its Spring 2023 Concert.
Guidelines
Candidates must be ready to perform the entire concerto or entire work. The jury will ask for excerpts.
Candidates must provide at least one copy of a score to the judges (full scores preferred, but piano reductions will be accepted).
Candidates may provide their own accompanist if so desired, although an accompanist is not necessary and will not be provided by MSO.
The competition is open to all Harvard undergraduates performing a concerto or orchestral work featuring any solo instrument(s) or voice. The concerto should be suitable for a smaller chamber orchestra. Freshmen are particularly encouraged to apply.
